On Wednesday, we went to the Hardwick Trails. We measured our trees from the fall, collected any items that we had brought to the woods, planted sunflower seeds and finished up with playing in the brook. Hardwick certainly added a lot to our outdoor learning time. We just loved visiting and exploring!

This week Miss Rivers' class began their unit about worms. We began with learning about earthworms in general. All worms are earthworms, but there are different types of earthworms. We used night crawlers to see how worms move, how they feel and how long they can be. We then compared live worms to gummy worms. On the 29th we will get our red wigglers in the mail. These are composting worms that we will raise and next year hopefully, use their castings (poop) as soil for planting seeds. Kelsey did part of her senior project around this unit and we loved having her help us! We made dirt cups that were filled with pudding soil, oreo worm castings and a gummy worm. We then made a worm compost bin to have ready for our new class pets. We have learned many interesting facts about worms. Ask us to tell you! Ms. Ferland’s class spent some time this afternoon greening up the Danville Woods and around the fields. We know how important it is to do our part to take care of our community! Weaving In the WoodsFor Outdoor Learning on Wednesday we took to the Danville Woods where we spent our afternoon weaving using things we found in nature! Through some trial and error, we were able to create something beautiful to leave in the woods. We were also lucky enough to find some Big Kids doing a science experiment and had some fun chasing it around. We wanted to share our final Dairy in the Classroom video. We had to show proof of learning and we felt this was the best way...
https://m.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=115&v=gcBJy8ik-I4 What a wonderful day! Sunshine and cows galore. The McReynolds’ family were so great. We were able to meet many cows, feed the babies with bottles, milk a cow named Maple and even left with a treat. This completes our Dairy in the Classroom and we will be putting the finishing touches on a video we made to document our learning. We will share it here on the blog when it is complete. |
